Transportation Engineering Approaches to Climate Resiliency – Coastal Engineering Assessments

South Coast Engineers assisted in the development of recommended engineering practices for identifying and evaluating project-level vulnerabilities from future extreme weather events and climate change and designing solutions to respond and adapt to those vulnerabilities. Engineering analyses of three diverse transportation assets were performed to identify best practices for improving the resiliency of the transportation system to extreme weather and climate change.

The three assets/sites were:

  • I-10 Bayway Bridge, Mobile Bay, Alabama
  • US 98, Okaloosa Island, Florida
  • Shore Road, Brookhaven, New York
